The Weaving with Waste project combines traditional paper weaving techniques with plastic instead of paper. 

This style of weaving started after I accumulated so much plastic that was due for landfill, or it was not clear on how it should be recycled. 

I combine this 2D weaving with handout templates. The work is a play on words; combining my love of weaving and my background in design and advertising. 

My aim is to get the viewer thinking about our use and waste of paper, without being too serious. 

Recently I have started experimenting with plastic and weaving in 3D. My first piece 'Ignite' uses chip packaging which is cut, folded and woven onto a metal fan case. This piece won the Flying Arts QRAA 2021 Textile Award.
